Ancestors

See the attached file for a list of potential ancestors and their spouses: over 100 ancestors (women and men) have been used to join ADEAW. More than 200 other women and men were accused or tried or convicted, including several African Americans and a Native American. It is not known if all of these left descendants. There are potential ancestors in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennslyvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia. Those who survived their accusations may have moved, married, or re-married.

If you do not see your ancestor listed but you have proof of her/his accusation, trial, or conviction, we would be delighted to review your application. If approved, your ancestor would be added to this list.

Court records and church records are valuable sources of accusations and indictments.
